Thank you for trying to help those that have been affected by the recent Hurricanes. When a disaster like Hurricane Harvey or Hurricane Irma happens, it can take months and even years for communities to rebuild. To make the most of your efforts to help, consider these tips for donating and volunteering.

Service DAWGS Day is an annual day of service that engages over 500 volunteers in community service activities within the local community. On Service DAWGS Day, students and volunteers arrive at a central campus location for a brief orientation and light breakfast before being transported to one of over 35 community partner locations to perform three hours of community service. At around lunch time, students are transported back to campus for lunch and other activities. Breakfast, lunch, transportation, and a t-shirt are provided to volunteers free of charge!

The MSU Big Event is a one-day service event for the MSU and Starkville community to roll up their sleeves and GIVE BACK. On April 1st student leaders, faculty, staff, and community members will gather and leave their mark on the local community through service.

During Spring Break, 30 MSU students will travel to the Mississippi Delta to live history, see the future, and make a difference in the lives of others. Students will embrace the rich history and culture of the Mississippi Delta during Blues, Civil Rights, and Native-American history experiences.
January 16, 2017, will mark the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. federal holiday. This milestone is a perfect opportunity for Americans to honor Dr. King’s legacy through service. The MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community.
