The MSU BIG EVENT is April 4th, 2020

The MSU Big Event is a one-day service event for the MSU student leaders, faculty, staff, and Starkville community members to serve alongside each other and leave their mark!

How It Works
Volunteers and groups must pre-register ONLINE at bit.ly/MSUGP BEFORE the event. Only Site Leaders MUST check-in on Saturday morning, April 4 from 8:30am-9:30am at the Barnes & Noble back patio to collect their volunteers t-shirts, and SL instruction packet. Site Leaders will meet all volunteers at the organization they have signed up for on GIVEPULSE to give instructions to our wonderful volunteers. Site Leaders will officially check all volunteers in for the event. If you are an MSU student, faculty, or staff member, please do not forget your MSU ID. If you are not with MSU, bring any form of photo ID. On April 4, all volunteers are expected to be at their community service locations by 10 am. 

If you are signing up the day of - THAT's GREAT! We will be stationed at the back patio of Barnes and Nobles where we will check in all Site Leaders and any Day of registrants!

Will provide both breakfast items and lunch which are both optional and will be on a first come first served basis. Breakfast will be available from 8am-10am and Lunch will be available 11am-noon.

What is the Big Event?

The Big Event is the largest one-day service event at MSU. Students, faculty, and staff take 2 hours out of their day to volunteer in the local community.

When is the Big Event?

April 2, starting at 10:00 AM finishing up on or before noon.

When is the deadline to register?

The deadline to register is April 3rd, 2020. If you are signing up the day of - THAT's GREAT! We will be stationed at the back patio of Barnes and Nobles where we will check in all Site Leaders and any Day of registrants!

Will transportation be offered?

Transportation will not be provided. However, if you do not have transportation, we ask that you choose a volunteer site for you that is either within walking distance or located on/near campus. Let us know if you will need transportation when you complete the registration.

Can I volunteer at the same place as my friend?

Yes, and we highly encourage you and your friend register to volunteer on the GivePulse platform together. You must register before noon on April 3.

Does it cost to volunteer?

There is no cost to volunteer.

When do I need to check-in?

What are times are available to volunteer?

All project will start at 10am and last 2 hours. If you need to finish up by a certain time, please email us at volunteer@saffairs.msstate.edu and never leave without letting your site leader or community partner know!

What if it rains?

Please bring a rain jacket! We will only stop service projects if the organization asks. :)

Will I get a t-shirt?

Breakfast and lunch (although optional) along with a t-shirt from your site leader will be provided free of charge!

Is this event open to anyone or do you have to be from MSU?

Anyone can volunteer. You don't have to be a student.

Is there a minimum age range?

No. However, if you are planning to bring children with you under the age of 16, please let us know upon registration so that we can be sure to assign you to a service site that welcomes children.
