Service D.A.W.G.S. Day is a day dedicated to serving alongside our communities. On this day, MSU students, faculty, and staff and the surrounding community come together to engage in a few hours of volunteering to impact our community. This year, Service D.A.W.G.S. Day is on Saturday, August 22nd, 2020 from 10am-12pm and begins at the community agency of YOUR choosing via slots listed below, Cowbell Connect under the 'SERVICE' tab, OR the sign-up link at bit.ly/MSUGP and login via myState.
At 10 a.m., volunteers will head directly to the community agency they signed up for via the bit.ly/MSUGP link and logged in via myState. Upon arrival, volunteers are instructed to find their site leader who will be wearing a Service D.A.W.G.S Day shirt with 'Site Leader' labeled across the nape of the neck. This site leader will direct volunteers through service projects for the day. The Maroon Volunteer Center, along with other MSU student organizations, will host an information table at the back of Barnes & Noble located on MSU's campus. Attendees are directed to come to this location ONLY for the following reasons:
1. If you have questions about how to get to your site or need directions
2. If you would like to have a snack or drink provided to you
3. If you have concerns and/or questions
4. To pick up an $8 meal voucher after service
Around noon or once volunteers have completed service for the day, we are offering optional meal tickets for pick up at the back of Barnes & Nobles at the information table.
Site leaders are undergraduate and graduate students, who are peer leaders that have chosen to activate their leadership skills by directing various service projects, taking on the role as an influencer with volunteers for the day! Due to COVID-19, we will NOT be conducting day of sign ups nor providing transportation. This is in place to minimize close contact. The day of service is open to incoming freshmen, returning students, and MSU faculty and staff. Participants will receive free t-shirts provided by the MVC at your service site!
Participants understand that by RSVP'ing to this event, they will arrive at their designated time to ensure their spot and will support the physical distance guidelines in place by this event's organizers.

To safeguard the health of all members of MSU and the surrounding volunteer community during this global pandemic, the Office of Student Leadership and Community Engagement highly recommends following all CDC guidelines, MSU recommendations, and Guidelines for Student Life Activities to engage safely in our events. To mutually protect the MSU community, community partners, and their clientele and provide a safe environment, everyone at this event is required and agrees to practice the following: self-screening, on-site temperature checks, wearing face coverings, frequent sanitization, and social distancing of at least six feet. Also, the university has published requirements for the use of face coverings while on campus. If you cannot wear a face-covering due to a medical condition, request accommodations through the Office of Disability Support Services. We ask that individuals who willingly choose to disregard these recommendations forego registering for the event.
